On January 6, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) published in the Federal Register Rule 40 CFR 751.401-751.413, Rule Pair, for five persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) substances
DecaBDE DecaBDE, PIP (3:1) dimethylphosphophenyl ester, PCTP pentachlorothiophenol, HCBD hexahydrobutadiene, 2,4,6-TTBP 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol in substances, mixtures or articles
PBT substances have introduced regulatory requirements, which have officially entered into force on February 5, 2021 and will be phased in on March 8.
- The main uses and control requirements of these substances are as follows:
+Bromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE)
Triphenyl isopropylated phosphate (PIP (3:1))
2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol(2,4,6-TTBP)
Pentachlorothiophenol (PCTP)
Hexahydrobutadiene (HCBD)
2. Which products need to apply for TSCA?
Products not regulated by TSCA: food, food additives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and substances used only as pesticides. That is to say, in addition to these products, other non-metallic products must do TSCA.
