The 3500 rack can accommodate one or two AC and DC power supplies in any combination. The entire rack can be powered by any power source. When two power supplies are placed in the rack, one in the bottom slot is used as the main power supply, while the other in the higher slot is used as the backup power supply. If a second power source is installed, it serves as a backup power source for the first power source. As long as a second power supply is installed, removing or inserting any power module will not affect the operation of the rack. AC and DC power sources accept various input voltages and convert them into voltages that can be used by other 3500 modules.
