Schneider Electric 140CHS11000 Overview
The Modicon 140CHS11000 is manufactured by Schneider Electric and is a part of the Modicon Quantum system. The use of Quantum communication and network modules is necessary to interface with the Quantum controller. Communication and networking are done through the Quantum system local backplane. Through the backplane, high-speed data is transferred to and from the communication and networking modules. It helps to maximize performance. The 140CHS11000 is an Intelligent / Special purpose module on the Modicon Quantum system called a Hot Standby unit. The Hot Standby unit is designed specifically for use on the Quantum system with remote I/O networks. It is implemented during times when downtime can not be permitted. It is used to determine the synchronization of the PCU and I/O scans.
Features
The Modicon 140CHS11000 has many useful features available on the front of the unit. At the front top of the module is the LED display.Immediately above the LED display is where the model number and the module description are located. The modules and description are color-coded. Below the LED display you will find the key switch. Just beneath the key switch is the A/B designation slide switch. The program update button is below the A/B designation slide switch. Next, you will find the transmit cable connector followed by the receive cable connector.
There is a removable door available for this unit that covers several of these features. The removable door covers the key switch, the A/B designation slide switch, the program update button, the transmit cable connector, and the receive cable connector. You can also add a customer identification label to the door.

The Schneider Electric 140CHS11000 gives you Quantum I/O communication and two transmit and receive fiber optic communication ports. It is compatible with Modsoft V2.32 or Concept 2.0 programming software at a minimum. The bus current required for the 140CHS11000 Hot Standby unit is 700 mA.
How to use the 140CHS11000
There are five LED indicators on the Modicon 140CHS11000: Ready, Com Act, Primary, Comm Err, and Standby.
The Ready LED indicator is green in color and indicates power is being supplied to the module.It also lets you know it passed the initial internal diagnostic tests. It will stay steady green if both of these things are happening. It will blink green if it is trying to recover from an interface error. The next LED is Com Act. It is also green and indicates the CHS 110 module is communicating.
If it is blinking, there is an error detected. Primary is the next LED and it is also green and indicates that the module is supporting the primary controller. Next is Com Err which is red. If the Com Err red light is on, it is indicating the module is retrying communication or it has detected a communication failure. The final LED is the Standby which is amber in color. The Standby LED will be steady when the module is supporting the standby controller, which is ready to take the primary role if necessary.
The Schneider Electric 140CHS11000 comes with a two-year warranty.
