Basic contents of 1.St  

toys imported into Japan must comply with the Japanese food hygiene law Andor the Japanese toy safety Standard. JFSL is a mandatory requirement for toys for children under the age of 6, while St is a widely adopted voluntary standard for toys for children under the age of 14, developed by the Japanese toy association (JTA) .

Japan toys safety Mark -StBMarkMARK) is managed and issuedJapanaToystAssociationtion, which stipulates the mechanical and physical properties, combustion safety and chemical safety properties of toys. S for safety, T for toys. 

The standard is voluntary and only products that comply with it are allowed to carry the ST mark on the product itself. It is not a mandatory standard, but it has a very important impact on the acceptance of toys in the Japanese market. 

Scope of 2.ST 2016: 

Japanese toy standard (ST 2016) applies to toys for children aged 14 years and below, including requirements for toys for children aged under 18 months, toy Requirements for children under 3 years of age and toy requirements for children under 10 years of age. Key items include: driving toys, scientific equipment, children's crafts (e.g. , easy-to-build models, woodworking tools) , garden toys, sports toys, water toys, bath toys, inflatable toys for use on the water, Christmas supplies for use on mobile phones, and 

3. ST testing projects to obtain the St Mark, must comply with the Japanese toy safety standards. The criteria can be divided into the following parts: Part 1-physical and mechanical testing-concern about the hazards of toys to children part 2-flammability testing-concern about the flammability properties of toys part 3-chemical property: concern about the toxicity of different toy materials (particularly PVC, PE, rubber, paint coatings and textile materials)

4. What is the ST standard certification process?

 1. Application from the retailer or importer to a licensed laboratory 

2. Toys shall be tested by a JTA-accredited laboratory in accordance with St Part 1-3(mechanical/physical properties, flammability and chemical properties, respectively)

3. After passing the toy evaluation, the retailer or importer shall apply for the St Mark and affix it to the toy and/or packaging
