Liuli is the Chinese pronunciation of colored glaze, which can be defined as a lot of crystal glass. It's a kind of handcraft made of colored crystal, containing 24% lead peroxide. The brilliance of this material, the intensity of colors, and the myriad subtle shades, all contribute to its singularity.
Lost-Wax Production Technic
First heat up the colored glaze material over 1000 C, and let it flow to the prepared mold. The mold is made after wax mold melted, so this is called lost wax, also known as pate de Verre in Europe. There are over twelve steps for this ancient technics, all steps can be only finished by a human.
Product Color
Different metallic oxides are added to raw material before firing to get the flamboyant color. The color will never shade or be washed. Even the same item will show different for the specialty of lost-wax technic. Bubbles are also the inevitable result of it. This made the value and singularity of each piece.
