Synthetic camphor called also as camketone which is white crystal with a cooling and refreshed small, easily soluble in organic solvent. Synthetic camphor as a plasticizer, used in production of celluloid, Pingpang PVC, nitro cellulose,synthetic rubber and powder metallurgy; as a stablizer, used in ballisite-making; in health care used as cardiotoic and cooling agent; in daily life, used as anthelmintic and preservative.
FUNCTION:
1.Local effect: camphor is painted on the skin with mild stimulation and anticorrosion. The role of red hair has rubbed hard; light coating is similar to mint, a cool feeling, this is because the cold stimulation of receptor function. It also has a mild local anesthetic effect. For the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, camphor has a stimulating effect, which makes the stomach feel warm and comfortable, and a lot of nausea and vomiting can be produced. With clinical camphor liniment has analgesic, antipruritic effect. Oral has slight effect and expectorant carminative effect.
2. The role of central nervous system: the whole body action of camphor is mainly excited by the central nervous system, especially for the advanced center, which plays a large role in the motor cortex and brain stem, causing epileptic seizures. General dose of camphor has no obvious effect on respiration. Under extreme inhibition, some respiratory excitement can be seen, mainly due to the reflex excitement caused by stimulating receptors in subcutaneous injection.
