Testing and Inspection
Gloves and sleeves must be electrically tested before being issued for use. They must also be visually inspected and gloves need to be air tested for any possible defects (for example, cuts, holes, tears, embedded objects, changes in texture) before each day's use and whenever there is a reason to believe they may have been damaged. Best practice is to inspect PPE and air test the gloves and sleeves before each use.

2, Insulating equipment failing to pass inspection must be removed from service and may not be used by workers.
3, In addition, the gloves and sleeves must be electrically tested at regular intervals of not more than 6 months for gloves and 12 months for sleeves. When gloves and sleeves are used regularly, best practice is to test as frequently as monthly.
Storage
To help ensure the integrity of the gloves and worker safety, gloves need to be stored properly when not in use. Proper storage means that gloves must not be folded and need to be kept out of excessive heat, sunlight, humidity, ozone and any chemical or substance that could damage the rubber.

What standards do the electrical gloves comply with?
Rubber insulating gloves are available in six specific voltage classes (Class 00 – Class 4), and other rubber insulating products are also available in different voltage classes as well.
1. Class 00 low voltage gloves are proof-tested at 2,500 volts for a maximum use 500 volts;
2. Class 0 low voltage gloves are proof-tested at 5,000 volts for a maximum use 1,000 volts;
3. Class 1 high voltage gloves are proof-tested at 10,000 volts for a maximum use 7,500 volts;
4. Class 2 high voltage gloves are proof-tested at 20,000 volts for a maximum use 17,000 volts;
5. Class 3 high voltage gloves are proof-tested at 30,000 volts for a maximum use 26,500 volts;
6. Class 4 high voltage gloves are proof-tested at 40,000 volts for a maximum use 36,000 volts
