Suitable growing environment: water spinach likes a high temperature and humidity environment, so it is good to grow vegetables in a heated room in winter. The suitable growth temperature is 25-30°C, and it can withstand high temperatures of 35-40°C.
The soil requirements are not strict, it can be said that it can grow well on any soil or just hydroponics, but it requires a lot of fertilizer, especially nitrogen fertilizer. 2. Planting method: The stems of water spinach are creeping, and the stems have nodes. In addition to the axillary buds, each node can also grow adventitious roots. The root system is very shallow and has strong regeneration ability. Because of this feature, we can grow water spinach by stem cuttings. The water spinach branches, with at least three or four nodes left, can be soaked in water to grow roots and planted in pots, or they can be directly cultivated in water.
At present, most of the water spinach are grown by seeding and propagation. The seed coat of water spinach seeds is thick and hard. It is better to soak the seeds before sowing to promote germination. First, scald the seeds in a greenhouse at 50-60 °C for 30 minutes, and then soak them in water at room temperature for 24 hours. After removing and washing, germination is carried out in an environment of 25 °C. During the germination period, the seeds are rinsed with water once a day, and the seeds can be sown when 50% of the seeds are white in about 3 days. The water spinach can be sown or drilled. After sowing, the soil cover should not be too thick, about *1cm. Keep the soil moist during the emergence period, and the seedlings will emerge in about 3-5 days.
The management of water spinach after emergence is very simple. Because it requires a large amount of water, it must be watered frequently to keep the soil moist, and the amount of fertilizer required is also relatively large. After each harvest, 5-8kg of compound fertilizer is applied per mu of land.
