Linear motor is often simply described as rotating motor flattened, and the working principle is the same. Forcer (rotor) is made of epoxy material to compress the coils together; Magnetic track is to fix magnets (usually rare earth magnets with energy) on steel. The mover of the motor includes coil winding, Hall element circuit board, electric heat regulator (temperature sensor monitors temperature) and electronic interface. In rotating electrical machines, the rotor and stator need rotating bearings to support the rotor to ensure the air gap of the relative moving parts. Similarly, linear motors need linear guides to maintain the position of the mover in the magnetic field generated by the magnetic track. Like the rotary servo motor encoder installed on the shaft feedback position, the linear motor needs a feedback device that feeds back the linear position - the linear encoder, which can directly measure the position of the load to improve the position accuracy of the load.

The control of linear motor is the same as that of rotary motor. Like brushless rotating motor, the mover and stator are not mechanically connected (brushless). Unlike rotating motor, the mover rotation and stator position remain fixed. Linear motor system can be magnetic rail or thrust coil (- some positioning system applications are magnetic rail fixed and thrust coil moving). The weight and load ratio of the thrust coil of the motor moving with the thrust coil is very small. However, flexible cables and their management systems are needed. The motor moving with the magnetic track should not only bear the load, but also bear the quality of the magnetic track, but it does not need a cable management system.

Similar electromechanical principles are applied to linear and rotary motors. The same electromagnetic force produces torque on the rotating motor and linear thrust on the linear motor. Therefore, the linear motor uses the same control and programmable configuration as the rotating motor. The shape of linear motor can be flat plate type, U-slot type, and tube type Construction - suitable for the specification requirements and working environment depending on the actual application.

The side evolved from the stator is called primary, and the side evolved from the rotor is called secondary. In practical application, the primary and secondary are made into different lengths to ensure that the coupling between the primary and secondary remains unchanged within the required stroke range. Linear motors can be short primary and long secondary, or long primary and short secondary. Considering the manufacturing cost and operation cost, take the linear induction motor as an example: when the primary winding is connected to the AC power supply, the traveling wave magnetic field will be generated in the air gap, and the secondary will induce the electromotive force and generate the current under the cutting of the traveling wave magnetic field, and the current will generate the electromagnetic thrust when it acts with the magnetic field in the air gap. If the primary is fixed, the secondary moves in a straight line under the action of thrust; On the contrary, the primary level moves in a straight line. A linear motor application system must not only have a linear motor with good performance, but also have a control system that can realize the technical and economic requirements under safe and reliable conditions. With the development of automatic control technology and microcomputer technology, there are more and more control methods of linear motor.
