The FR-S 500 series of frequency inverters from Mitsubishi Electric provide an easy entry to the world of modern variable-speed drive technology. These inverters are ideal for simple drive tasks with V/f control up to 3.7kW output, with a comprehensive range of intelligent functions that cover the requirements of a wealth of applications in trade and industry.

 

With their compact design and clear layout the FR-S 500 inverters make installation and configuration fast and simple - also on a DIN rail adapter in the switchgear cabinet if you want.

The integrated control unit with the one-touch Digital Dial facilitates efficient entry of all drive parameters. Or you can choose the alternative alphanumeric control panel with multi-language support and a copy function. Both displays provide at-a-glance information on the current status of the drive system and clear error messages.

[Features]

 

  1. Simple setting
    • The frequency setting, parameter setting, etc. can be set easily just by turning the setting dial.
    • The setting can be adjusted according to the turning speed of the setting dial and can be set at ones will.
    • Accurate settings also can be made with this notch-type dial.
  2. Simple operation
    • The basic parameters that can be set have been grouped into the minimum required 12 parameters. Thus, parameters can be managed easily. (Factory setting)
    • When the extension parameters are called, high functions are then available.
    • The mode can be changed between the PU and external operation modes just by pressing the PU/EXT key. The current operation mode can be confirmed with the status display LED.
  3. Powerful
    • By incorporating Mitsubishi's original and newly developed automatic torque boost control, a maximum 150% torque at 6Hz is possible and the need for torque boost setting can be eliminated.
  4. Compact
    • The height dimensions for all capacities have been unified to 128mm.
    • The footprint is the same as the Mitsubishi FR-E500.
      (The installation footprints of single-phase 200V 0.75K and 400V class are different.)
  5. Others
    • The cooling fan can be replaced easily due to the simple cassette design and maintenance is made easy.
    • In-rush current suppression circuit is standard for all capacities and peripheral devices can be downsized.
    • Sink/Source logic is selectable.

 

[Additional function in FR-S500 series EVOLUTION]

 

  1. Equipped with a regenerative brake transistor (Provided with FR-S520E 0.4K to 3.7K)
    • Permitting connection to a brake resistor.This allows the regenerative braking torque from conveyor equipment (travel, traverse), etc., deceleration to be applied to a required application.
  2. RS-485 communication function is standard equipped
    • Management, copy, etc. of parameter can be performed using setup software (option) and parameter unit FR-PU04 (option).
    • In addition, communication operation can be performed using RS-485.
    • As Mitsubishi graphic operation system MELSEC-GOT-F900 series is connectable, operation using the GOT can be performed.
  3. Restart after instantaneous power failure by frequency search function.
    • Even if the motor speed drops due to the machine load, etc., during an instantaneous power failure, the motor speed is detected when power is restored, permitting the motor to be restarted without stopping.
  4. Maintenance timer function
    • Can be used as an alarm signal of main circuit capacitor life (guideline).
    • When a maintenance timer function is assigned to the output terminal and the replacement time of capacitor, cooling fan, etc.is set in parameters, the signal is output when the energization time of the inverter reaches the setting value.
  5. Second electronic thermal function
    • When operation includes switching between 2 motors with differing characteristics, ensuring that a suitable electronic thermal is selected for the motor being operated.
