The application range of gas crucible melting furnaces is suitable for melting low melting point non-ferrous metals and alloys such as aluminium, copper, zinc and tin, or for use with die casting machines. It can also be used for heat treatment of molten metal and small steel parts. Fuel types for gas crucible melting furnaces include city gas, liquefied gas (filling) and diesel.
Crucible furnace is one of the simplest melting equipment, mainly used for non-ferrous metals with low melting point, such as copper, aluminum and their alloys. In this furnace, the alloy is melted in a crucible, and heat is passed through the crucible into the furnace without direct contact with the combustion products. Therefore, the chemical composition of the alloy is hardly affected by the furnace gas, and the temperature of the alloy liquid is uniform, which is its main advantage. Its disadvantages are low thermal efficiency, high fuel consumption, small crucible capacity and poor working conditions
Crucible furnaces have always been equipment for smelting copper alloys. Now, a large proportion of crucible furnaces are used for smelting copper alloys. In ancient times, charcoal was used as a heat source for smelting, but now heavy oil, natural gas, electricity and coke are used. Recently, in order to save energy, protect the environment and improve efficiency, some heat sources have been changed from heavy oil to natural gas, and some to induction furnaces.
