Product Description
Sodium carboxymethyl starch (CMS Na), also known as carboxymethyl starch, is a kind of anionic starch ether, which is an
electrolyte soluble in cold water. Carboxymethyl starch ether was first produced in 1924 and industrialized in 1940. It is a kind of modified starch, belongs to ether starch, and is a kind of water-soluble anionic polymer. It is tasteless, non-toxic, not easy to mildew, when the degree of substitution is more than 0.2, it is easy to dissolve in water.
Nature: Its sodium salt, also known as CMS Na shape, is usually used: white or yellow powder, odorless, tasteless, nontoxic, and hot and hygroscopic. Soluble in water to form colloidal solution, stable to light and heat. Insoluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents.
The aqueous solution of the product is relatively stable in the alkali and poor in the acid, forming a free acid that is
insoluble in the water, reducing the viscosity, so it is not suitable for strong acid food. When the water solution is heated
above 80 ℃ for a long time, the viscosity decreases. The product has similar properties with carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), such as thickening, suspension, dispersion, emulsification, adhesion, water retention, protective colloid, etc.
