Heracleum hemsleyanum Diels
Umbelliferae, Heracleum is a perennial herb, up to 1.5 meters high. The root branches are conical and light yellow. The stem is cylindrical and single, hollow, and the leaves are membranous. The lower part of the stem leaves one to two pinnately divided. The leaflets on both sides are small and nearly ovoid. The upper part of the stem is ovate with irregular serrations on the edge. Compound umbels are terminal and lateral. The inflorescence is nearly smooth; involucres are few, long lanceolate, small involucres are linear lanceolate, and pilose. Each small umbel has flowers with slender stalk; calyx teeth are not conspicuous; petals are white, style base is short and conical, style is short, and stigma is capitate. The fruit is nearly round, rod-shaped, and brown. It blooms from May to July and bears fruit from August to September.
Distributed in Sichuan, Hubei, China. Grows under the damp bushes on the hillside.
