Ferro Silicon is a ferro alloy consisting of iron and silicon,made by electric furnace smelting,its raw material is coke, scrap steel, quartz (or silica ). As silicon and oxygen are easy to synthesize silica, ferro silicon is often used as deoxidizer in steel making. Meanwhile, due to the large amount of heat released during the production of SiO2, it is also advantageous to increase the temperature of the molten steel while deoxidizing. In the meantime, ferro silicon can also be used as an additive for alloy elements. widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel, Ferros ilicon is often used as reducing agent in ferro alloy production and chemical industry.
The appearance of Ferro Silicon is the grey lumpish solid. It has very great stablities and does not take place any chemical reaction in the dry air. The melting point is 1290-1340 for Ferro Silicon, with Si content 72-80%. Ferro silicon is used extensively in the steel-making, casting non-ferrous metals and other industrial.
