IEC60884-1 Clause 23.2 Power Cord Anchorage Torque Test Apparatus
1. Introduction
The power cord anchorage torque test apparatus is designed according to IEC60884-1 clause 23.2 (table 18) and VDE0620 clause23.2(table18). It’s used to test the power cords and flexible cables of household appliance and similar appliance. The torque test shall be carried out after the completion of retention test. The flexible cable is subjected for 1 min to a torque as specified in table 18. After the tests, the flexible cable shall not have been displaced by more than 2 mm. For rewirable accessories, the end of the conductors shall not have moved noticeably in the terminals; for non-rewirable accessories, there shall be no break in the electrical connections.
For measurements of the longitudinal displacement, a mark is made on the flexible cable at a distance of approximately 20 mm from the end of the specimen or the flexible cable guard, before it is subjected to the pull.
If, for non-rewirable accessories, there is no definitive end to the specimen or the flexible cable guard, an additional mark is made on the body of the specimen.
The displacement of the mark on the flexible cable in relation to the specimen or flexible cable guard is measured while the flexible cable is subjected to the pull.
