Standard Living Cage Environment for Unbiased and Unstressed Animal Behavior:
• Metabolic performance is measured by indirect calorimetric oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide creation, respiratory exchange frequency (RER), and energy expenditure (EE).
• Drinking and feeding behavior, measured by high-precision sensors, times and time patterns, up to six sensors per cage, food and beverage access control based on time and quantity
• Measurement of spontaneous living cage activity via infrared beam frame: total activity, walking and fine activity, standing
• Runner activity: active or passive; optional computer controlled “enabled/disabled” function; workload control
• Metabolic PhenoCages have the function of separating urine and feces and quantifying weighing.
