Description:
History of Francis Turbine.
Francis water turbine was invented by a British-American engineer. His name was James Bicheno Francis, he was born in May18, 1815, and passed away in Sep 18,1892, James B Francis was born in South Leigh, near Witney, Oxfordshire in England, United Kingdom, he began his engineer in the age of 14 as his father working in railway South Wales. At the age of 18, he moved to the United States. Today in order to memorize James Bicheno Francis, Mixed flow water turbine was called Francis hydro turbine.
Francis Hydro Turbine is designed the water heads from 12.5m up to 31m, water flow from 0.5M3/S to 8m3/S .
Francis water turbine can be made in horizontal or vertical shaft type and only with direct connection to the generator. Turbine has its own shaft support, or the runner is directly on the shaft of generator.
Runner is produced using technology of exact casting and digitally created model using CNC technology.
