The system comes loaded with a basemap that covers major metropolitan areas in the United States. More detailed maps are available on the CD-ROM that comes in the package. You simply select the areas through which you\'\'ll be traveling, then load those maps from your computer onto the StreetPilot using the included USB card. The 3.5 color screen shows you in vivid detail exactly where you\'\'re going. Voice prompts through the two built-in speakers accompany the visual maps, telling you which roads to take and when you need to make a turn. The maps offer two different viewing modes: the traditional overhead view, and an interactive, 3-D ground-level view. When you plug in a destination, you can enter a specific address, intersection, or road name, and modify several different route preferences (you can choose not to take toll roads, for example). As you\'\'re driving, you can find a host of points of interest in your area, including restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and much more. The CD-ROM holds over five million points of interest, so wherever you go, you\'\'ll be able to find something to do.
