The gas turbine’s operational mode gives it unique size adaptation potential. The largest gas turbines today are over 200 MW (megawatts) which then places gas turbines in an applications category that until recently, only steam turbines had owned. The smallest gas turbines are microturbines. The smallest commercially available microturbines are frequently used in small power generation (distributed power) applications and can be as small as 50 kW (kilowatts).
