Choice of seals 
There is a choice of two standard seals for each housing and other special seals can be incorporated (fig). End covers are also available.

Reinforced base 
The housing base is reinforced with ribs and extra material surrounding the four holes for the attachment bolts in order to improve seating on the base plate. The attachment bolts can be preloaded to give better location and cannot deform the housing base or housing bore (fig).

Good heat conduction 
The reinforcement of the housing base means that there is a considerable area of contact between the base and base plate making for improved heat flow away from the bearing (fig).

Relubrication facility 
The large SNL housings have three drilled and tapped holes that are plugged by metal screws. Two of the holes are in the housing cap (fig) and one is in the side face. Two grease nipples with covers as well as one adapter with G 1/8 and G 1/4 threads are supplied with each housing. Dimples cast into the cap mark the positions for grease nipples if it is required to relubricate the seals.

Space for sensor connections 
Flat areas offer space to accommodate sensors for condition monitoring (fig). Housings with tapped holes can be supplied to order.

Caps and bases individually marked 
The housing base and cap are matched during manufacture and are not interchangeable with those of other housings. To prevent mixing, the same consecutive number is marked on the cap and base of each individual housing (fig).

Easy mounting 
Cap bolts are easy to unscrew. Notches to pry the cap from the base ease cap removal. The rectangular base and centring marks that are vertical to the housing bore axis simplify alignment (fig). Dimples mark the positions for dowels.

Mounting instructions are also supplied with each housing.
