General
CMIT/MIT-14 microbicides are high performance, broad spectrum, antimicrobial agents based on the proven isothiazolone chemistry of Ozzie Company. They are effective at very low concentrations in controlling both the planktonic and surface growth of bacteria, fungi and algae and have been produced specifically for water treatment and paper mill applications.Ozzie Company have developed an unrivalled package of regulatory approvals and environmental fate, toxicology, and performance data to support the use of CMIT/MIT-14 in water treatment applications.
Performance:
The performance of CMIT/MIT-14 is similar to KATHON WT, ISOCIL 14, Nipacide CI & PREVENTOL IT 14.
Rapid inhibition of growth and macromolecular synthesis:
CMIT/MIT-14 causes immediate inhibition of growth on coming in contact with a microorganism.
Broad spectrum activity:
CMIT/MIT-14 controls the wide variety of algae, bacteria and fungi found in industrial water systems. Such a broad spectrum product reduces inventory and handling costs, lowers operator training expenses and lessens the risk of dosing error.
Effective at low concentrations:
Effective control of such a wide variety of microorganisms at levels as low as 1 ppm active ingredient by CMIT/MIT-14 provides an unrivalled and cost-effective treatment.
Effective against biofilm:
CMIT/MIT-14 readily penetrates the surface of adhering biofilm to give effective control of sessile microorganisms.
Compatibility:
CMIT/MIT-14 is compatible with chlorine, corrosion and scale inhibitors and most anionic, cationic and non-ionic formulations at normal use levels.Non-surface active:
CMIT/MIT-14 is non-foaming.
Infrequent dosing:
CMIT/MIT-14 remains active for long periods of time in the water system, resulting in low service costs.
Easily deactivated:
Spills of the concentrated active components of CMIT/MIT-14 are readily deactivated to non-toxic substances by the addition of a slightly acidic solution of sodium metabisulphite or sodium bisulphite.

CMIT/MIT-14 is ideally suited to meet the requirements of an industrial water treatment biocide. CMIT/MIT-14 microbicide is not deactivated by suspended organic matter, and is compatible with other water treatment additives, including chlorine. With the recent change of many cooling towers and paper mills to alkaline operating conditions, it is important to use a biocide such as CMIT/MIT-14 which remains stable at higher pH values. CMIT/MIT-14 is of low toxicity at use levels, easily deactivated and biodegradable. In addition to all these.

CMIT/MIT-1.5 Biocide (lisothiazolinone biocide) is an active ingredient preparation of chloromethylisothiazolinone/
methylisothiazolinone to preserve paints, binder dispersions and other technical products. The performance is similar to KATHON LXE,ACTICIDE RS,& Nipacide CI 15.

Miscibility/Solubility
Forms clear solutions in all proportions with water, low alcohols, glycols, and glycol ethers .
Compatibility
CMIT/MIT-1.5 is compatible with most common binders. It is generally advisable to check
compatibility prior to any application to a special case.
Stability
Temperature: up to 40°C (short periods to 60°C), pH range: 4 to 9
Application and Activity
CMIT/MIT-1.5 is a wet state preservative with a very wide application field such as paints,
plasters, adhesives, inks, dispersion and emulsion binders and aqueous technical products
in general. It can be used alone or in combination with other active ingredients such as
methylisothiazolone (MIT-10) or formaldehyde donors.
CMIT/MIT-1.5 is a proven slimicide in paper manufacturing. CMIT/MIT-1.5 contains
neither formaldehyde nor cationic or phenolic substances. Therefore, it is particularly suited
for use in products not compatible with these substances.
CMIT/MIT-1.5 has a broad spectrum of activity. It is effective against gram-positive and
gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria as well as against mould and yeast.
Dosage
The number of technical products being preserved with CMIT/MIT-1.5 is increasing steadily
and it is not always possible to predict its suitability. The optimum use should be established by a preliminary experiment. In critical cases, predilution with water is often helpful. The optimum dosage rate of CMIT/MIT-1.5 depends upon the degree of contamination and the
susceptibility of the product to be preserved.
Occasionally, the degree of contamination exhibits seasonal fluctuation, so that a periodical
determination of germ counts can assist in choosing the optimum dosage rate.Therefore, the ranges of concentrations listed below should be taken as general guidelines only
:
Binders 0.05 - 0.3%
Other products 0.05 - 0.15%
Storage, Handling and Disposal
Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet of this product for precise handling instructions.
In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing.
In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and
thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.
The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the
avoidance of accidents, must be observed.
CMIT/MIT-1.5 Biocide should be stored in closed original containers in a cool place, but not
below 0°C. At temperatures below 0°C solidification of the product may occur. If the product
does freeze, allow it to return to room temperature and it will turn liquid again. Bioactivity is unaffected by freezing and melting.
