Tara, also known as " Taya " is a plant native to Peru since pre hispanic period it is used in traditional medicine ; Nowadays is used as a raw material in the global market for food hydrocolloid and other industries. 

 Tara Powder is a natural source of tannins extracted from the Tara Pods (Caesalpinia Tinctoria).  The tannin of the Caesalpinia Tinctoria has a pyrogallic character, but small quantities of catechol  derivatives are also present in it.
 Tara Powder is free of extraneous substances, making it possible to process very bright and  lightfast leathers with maximum softness and fullness and a very fine, tight grain. The grain of  leathers tanned with Tara Powder also has a higher resistance to breaking load, in comparison  with other vegetal tannins.

USES

• Tara Powder is widely used in tanning process of hides destined for upholstery ( auto and home furnishings ) .

• Tara Powder is used in combination with other plant extracts for tanning hides of sheep and goats , for the re- tanning of all types of chrome leather, either full or corrected grain , especially when the finish product is white or pastel color (pastel blue , pink or green).

• Because Tara Powder contains virtually no coloring substances , its use gives very clear and lightfast leathers. Tara also gives skin softness , maintain a firm and smooth grain . In the hides retanned with Tara Powder, leather´s resistance to breaking it is greater than resistance obtained with other vegetable tannin .

• Also, tara powder is used for production in gallic acid ; in the manufacture of plastics and adhesives ; and cleaning of steam boilers.
