What is Ume-Konbucha?

Ume-Konbucha is instant soup, one of Konbucha* variation blended with Japanese pickled plum, Umeboshi (Ume) as accent to enhance flavor and taste.

*Konbucha is originally unique Japanese traditional soup made with umami rich kombu.

(Different from Ko”m”bucha, a fermented drink.)

 

Japanese drink Ume-Konbucha like tea or coffee at teatime or any time.

 

Recently, people use Konbucha and Ume-Konbucha as condiment because it can easily add salty taste and umami. Especially our Konbucha is used at: deli in supermarkets, convenient stores / Japanese restaurants / Spaghetti restaurants / Ramen restaurants / and others.

Usage

1. As a soup

Instead of salt

The simplest way is using Konbucha instead of salt. You can easily add saltiness and Umami.

 

Instead of dashi (Japanese soup stock)

Kombu is used extensively in Japanese cuisines as one of the main ingredients needed to make dashi. But the process of extracting dashi takes time and care.

Since Konbucha contains salt and umami from kombu, you can substitute Konbucha for dashi.
