How hard is hard? The illustrations shown below tell an interesting story. Illustration ‘A’ shows an analysis of the cross sectional hardness of The Steel Ball Company’s ‘thru hard’ ball. Illustration ‘B’ below shows the same analysis carried out on a ball from another major grinding media manufacturer. The ball in illustration ‘B’ has the same AVH figure as The Steel Ball Company’s ball and will wear out at the same time. Yet there the similarity ends. After three quarters of the radius, the hardness of the ‘B’ ball dips below that of The Steel Ball Company’s ball. This brings into focus the area of greatest discussion about using AVH values. Over 72% of the final value is made up from the surface and 3/4 radius hardness readings. So AVH tells us relatively little about how a ball is going to perform once it has worn past that stage.

A Once the ball has worn down to approximately 2/3 diameter, the remainder will wear away very quickly.

This will give a better size distribution in the mill, and avoid ‘dead zone grinding’. The shape of the ball will be preserved for much longer, giving a far more efficient grind. *The each melt will be analyzed for Chemical Composition;
*The hardness will be measured on 5 balls selected at random from each heat treatment batch;
*Two ball at least will be selected randomly from each heat treatment batch for micro-examination;
*The diameter test and all the above mentioned test will be showed and carried out on the templates;
* Sand and Slag inclusion will not existed ;
* Depth of defect is more than 2mm will not existed;
* Mismatch per face is more than 1.0mm will not existed ;
* All casting balls will be properly fettled,tumbled and dressed,all surface shall be thoroughly cleaned .
7. Instructions ofHigh Chrome Alloy Cast Grinding Ball with High Hardness Low Breakage for Mineral Processing:
When using CMAX products,please pay attention to the following items:
1.Due to different inner structures and hardness of similar products made by different companies, please don’t mix our products with those of other companies,or it will be subject to deformation.
2.Please control the grain size of raw materials and the proportion of grinding materials to grinding
medias.Unreasonable proportion is bad for the use of our products.
3.When using the products,please do not pursue product fineness at the cost of reducing the output .
Otherwise ,our products will be exfoliated and out of shape.
4.In the process of using our products,the mill could not be opened or stopped frequently,or operated
without any materials in it.Before putting the casting balls into the container,please put some materials
in the lowest floor in case of breakage,clashing and so on.
5.Open the door of the mill at first and pour the balls out when the temperature in the mill falls down .
