Intel introduces LGA1151 platform and first Skylake CPUs
Aug 09, 2015: Intel this week launched LGA1151 desktop platform, comprised of first two "Skylake" microprocessors and Z170 chipset. The processors are Core i5-6600K and Core i7-6700K, and both are top of the line quad-core models with unlocked clock multiplier. The CPUs are built on 14nm manufacturing process, and incorporate a number of enhancements, including better per-clock performance, support for DDR4 memory and faster Direct Media Interface (DMI).
Core i3 and Pentium "Skylake" CPUs to launch in September
Jul 29, 2015: In about a week, Intel is going to introduce the first Skylake processors at the GamesCom event in Germany. Recent reports stated that new Core i5-6600K and i7-6700K unlocked SKUs will be accompanied by the Z170 chipset, which will be the first available chipset from 100 series. The rest of the desktop Core i5 and i7 lineup will be released in the week of August 30, and it will be comprised of Core i5-6400, i5-6400T, i5-6500, i5-6500T, i5-6600, i5-6600T, i7-6700 and i7-6700T SKUs.

Jun 30, 2015: Intel is readying new Skylake desktop processors, that will boast such features as new CPU microarchitecture, improved graphics engine, support for DDR33L and DDR4 memory and substantially lower power consumption. The first to launch will be unlocked Core i5-6600K and i7-6700K quad-core microprocessors. Both will have 95 Watt TDP, which is higher than standard TDP and it may require third-party thermal solutions. It was reported that the "K" processors will be announced at Gamescom event in Germany at the beginning of August.

Jun 26, 2015: Earlier this week, Intel published a Product Change Notification document (PCN113879-00), notifying their clients of a new packaging option for tray shipments. Along with the description of a new packaging box, the document supplied a large list of "products affected", which included many production desktop processors, several unreleased models and a few unknown OEM CPUs.
Intel Core i5-6600K and i7-6700K CPUs to launch at Gamescom
Jun 19, 2015: Fifth generation desktop processors, built on Broadwell architecture, were announced less than three weeks ago, and the company is already readying to launch sixth generation chips, codenamed "Skylake". We reported on the launch schedule of Core i5 and i7 "Skylake" CPUs back in May. Our report stated that Intel is going to announce unlocked processors at the IDF event in San Francisco in August, and release the rest of the lineup in August - September. DigiTimes yesterday revealed slightly different launch schedule.

May 21, 2015: Intel Skylake microarchitecture will be launched in mid-August at the Intel Development Forum in San Francisco, reported. The webiste was first to publish details of Skylake desktop CPUs back in April, and now they revealed anticipated launch dates and model numbers of Skylake CPUs for different market segments. Most of new models will be available in September 2015. Intel also plans to release faster versions of mobile Skylake chips in October 2015 - January 2016 time frame.
Rumored Intel "Skylake-S" desktop CPU lineup
Apr 27, 2015: Intel is expected to launch in Q3 2015 a new desktop platform, comprised of "Skylake-S" desktop CPUs and next generation system chipsets. The platform will utilize socket 1151 and will not be compatible with existing Haswell and Haswell Refresh desktop models. We reported on the platform itself and some features of Skylake architecture in the past months, but detailed SKU lineup and detailed specifications were revealed only last week by website.
