Intel launched U-series Broadwell processors
Jan 10, 2015: Earlier this week Intel launched 17 "Broadwell" systems on a chip for light and thin notebooks, 2-in-1 hybrids, and All-In-One systems. All newly launched microprocessors are based on latest Intel's 14nm manufacturing process, and belong to "U" series of devices, that feature low power consumption of 15 Watt or 28 Watt. Performance-wise and price-wise, the "U" lineup consists of a few inexpensive models with HD graphics, 10 Core-branded 15 Watt parts with Broadwell GT2 or GT3 graphics, and several mid-power mobile processors, boasting higher clock speeds along with Iris 6100 GPU.

 



Launch schedule of Intel mobile CPUs
Nov 16, 2014: After the launch of the first three Broadwell ULV processors back in September, Intel is expected to release full range of "U" series ULV products in the first quarter of 2015. Detailed list of future "U" lineup was revealed by VR-Zone, and it includes 17 models in total. On the low end, we will see Celeron 3205U and 3755U, along with Pentium 3805U. Core i3 family will be expanded with i3-5005U, i3-5010U and i3-5157U SKUs. Upcoming Core i5 models are i5-5200U, i5-5250U i5-5257U, i5-5287U, i5-5300U and i5-5350U. Core i7 family will have five new members, including Core i7-5500U, i7-5550U, i7-5557U, i7-5600U and i7-5650U.

 



Intel to launch Broadwell "U" series CPUs at CES 2015
Oct 03, 2014: Intel introduced Broadwell microarchitecture and first "Y" series Broadwell processors last month. Branded as Core M, the "Y" products have 2 CPU cores, greatly improved graphics unit, and extremely low power consumption, which allows the chips to be used in fanless mobile devices. More Broadwell microprocessors, this time from "U" series and with higher 15 Watt TDP, will be available in the first quarter of 2015. Based on slides, posted by VR-Zone Chinese Edition, Intel plans 17 new processors.
