Coke oven project is one of the major overseas business of SSIT. Up to the end
of 2004, there were 5 coke oven projects which

Features of the Coking Technology

1. Environmental Protection

Random fume release is reduced immensely during charging and pushing for side and stamp charging; operate under negative pressure so that no fume is released during charging, coking, and pushing; the raw gas generated is converted into heat energy; Partial heat is used to heat coal cake and the residual heat diverted to the power plant for power generation; After desulphurization and dust extraction treatment in the power plant, only SO2≤100mg/Nm3, SPM ≤50mg/Nm3 contents in the waste gas released into the atmosphere. In conclusion, a clean operation of the coking plant that meets the norms of environmental protection.

No Biochemical Effluent are produced in the CO gas that is delivered as a by-product recovery and CO gas purification - solves the problem of effluent treatment in coking plant completely.

During coking, tar, benzene, naphthalene, BaP and other poisonous and harmful gas get burnt under high temperature, reducing hazards to the environment.

2. Comprehensive Utilization of Resources

Power generation of waste heat:

The waste heat generated during coking can be used for power generation fully utilizing this resource. For example, 0.5MT coking plant can sustain a 2 x 12MW captive power plant.

Blending coals:

Coals with weak caking property can be blended into coking coal as per the features of heat recovery coking technology and local condition of coal resources available. In this case, usable coking coal resources are enhanced and operation costs reduced;

Water consumption:

No steam, cooling water required for production, to produce 1t coke, only 0.45t water needed;

Power consumption:

To produce 1t coke, only 15kwh power is needed.

3. Production Capacity and Coke Output

First of all, the carbonization chamber and combustion chamber are separated completely. The coal cake will be heated only by heat transmission of refractory bricks to avoid coke being burnt into ash during late stage of carbonization. About 5% coke is burnt into ash during coking in the horizontal heat recovery coking batteries. This is a huge loss to coking plants. However, vertical heat recovery coking batteries hardly burn any coke into ash.

Coking in wider carbonization chamber, the coke with bigger lump, high strength and excellent heat stability will be produced.

The carbonization chamber and combustion chamber are segregated with a gap of 100mm.  The heat generated inside neighboring carbonization chambers can be used mutually when CO gas burnt inside combustion chamber. Subsequently the coking time will be shortened, uniformity of coking increased, and coke yield improved greatly;
