Externally-fed or internally-fed rotary drums are available. The former uses a slot tube with FOTI filtration and is available in diameters up to 930 mm. In case of an internally fed construction a cylinder is used, equipped with a transportation screw.
In case of an externally fed drum the liquid to filter is fed at the top of the rotating drum. The filtrate flows twice through the drum, while the filtered solids remain at the outside of the drum and are removed by a scraper.
In case of an internally fed drum the filtrate flows through the drum, while the filtered particles are moved out of the drum by a helix and the rotation.
Rotary drums are used for dewatering by gravity, high flow rates and low energy applications, including:
waste water treatment
vegetable and food processing
sugar mills
paper & pulp industry
