General Information:
HT-W series is waterborne bentonite rheological thickening agent. It is a kind of distinctive plate silicate mineral which is derivative of montmorillonite, inducted into natural silicate inorganic polymer laminated form through polyhydric organic polymer form by method of hydration. It is the most prospective organic/inorganic polymer thickening agent. It provides better thixotropy and thickening in the water. It combines high-performance, flowing of organic thickening agent and stability, suspension of inorganic thickening agents. Its particular plate-form can provide stable rheological curve. It improves stability of storage and cans effect in water-based coatings.
Special Features: water insoluble, but can form colorless and transparent gel in the water by hydrating and swelling
Rheological Curve: in lower concentrations, HT-W604 can provide very good thixotropy and yield
Application: Construction Coating, Waterborne Multicolor Paint, Water Based Paste, Water Based Industrial Paint, Water Based Metallic Paint, Water Based Wood Paint, Finger Painting, Inks, Pesticides, Oil Field, etc industrial application and Cosmetics ,Toothpaste, etc daily chemicals.
Incorporation:
- HT-W604 is also a very good thixotropic additive in the solvent systems. the amount of solvent should be in the limitation. Usually does not exceed 50% Methanol, 30% Ethanol, 30% Isopropyl Alcohol, 50% Ethylene Glycols.
- HT-W604 needs to be incorporated with the system or water under the condition of high shear power. Usually adds HT-W604 into the systems or water before adding other materials and make high speed disperse or mill. Then adds other material. It can also be added as Pre-gel.
- If use softened water, the viscosity will be increased within 24 hours gradually. But in hard water, the viscosity will rise very quickly. To use warm water avails to dispersing and thickening.
- Contrast to the pure water system, the viscosity is higher in the mixture of water and solvent. But more solvents, less transparency and less stability. Under Alkalinity and neutral conditions, HT-W604 is stable. PH value is in 5.5-13. It is not available to the acidity.
Addition Level: typically 0.2-0.6% by the weight of total formulation. The exact level depends on the systems.
