Product Description

 

POWERFUL, CLEAN, AFFORDABLE MOBILE OFF-GRID ENERGY

 

A patented transportable solar photovoltaic (PV) system with the power and convenience to match diesel generators:

  • High power capacity - up to 100kW in a 20ft shipping container
  • Fast deployment - pre-wired array unrolls in just a few minutes

 

Imagine the scenario, such as during recent events in the Philippines, where a natural disaster has cut off electricity and fuel supplies_and people are dying in hospitals which have generators, but no fuel to run them to power essential medical equipment. Portable solar power? Not powerful enough to run an entire medical facility-until now!

 

Transportable solar power system which we predict is capable of providing 10 times more power than existing solutions, based on a large rollable solar array which can be deployed very quickly from a motorised spool housed in a trailer or shipping container. Combined with battery backup and inverters housed in the same container, the system can provide 24/7 AC power output. The product will be used instead of diesel generators in remote locations, reducing expensive diesel fuel consumption and in some situations providing a financial break_even in less than a year (own research available upon request).

 

Benefits compared with diesel generators include:

  • We estimate a lower total cost of ownership
  • Reduce or eliminate noise, local pollution & carbon emissions
  • Reduce or eliminate the need for fuel convoys => lives can be saved in areas of conflict or disaster zones

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Integrated flexible Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) PV modules into a unique rollable_array structure which is reinforced with a high strength, environmentally_resilient tensile fabric, and contains power_transmission cabling built_in to itsthickness. The advantages of this approach are:

  • Tensile fabric bears the tensile loads during rolling/unrolling, protecting the PV modules
  • The array is pre-wired, so no individual connections need to be made to the many modules of the array

In addition a spooling system has been developed which:

  • Is driven by a high_torque gearmotor which can be powered from the battery systems within the same trailer/container
  • Has a single_block mult_pole power connector, enabling the entire array to be connected and switched on in just a few seconds
