About the painting
A few of magnolia flowers cover the whole painting. The painter used no ink but the ochre, white powder and some flower blue. This is a new work that we can see the color but the lines.
About the painter:
Yun Shouping(1633-1690), his style name is Zheng Shu and the sobriquet is Tian Nan. In his early years, he appreciated the landscape painting style of Wang Meng,Yuan Dynasty. Then he changed to paint the flower-and-bird and developed the boneless brushwork. The birds and flowers he painted are just painted with ink without lining to show their natural features. He was considered as one of the Six Masters of Qing Dynasty, with Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Wu, Wang Yuanqi and Wu Li
