Mounted infront of the LED is a reflector cone, spreading the light evenly to eliminate bright or dark spots or a yellow halo which otherwise can appear with some LED bulbs. |

1.What is an LED Downlight?
The LED downlight is an energy saving light bulb option which uses a light-emitting diode (LED) as the source of light and is usually fitted or housed directly into a recess or ceiling producing light in a downward fashion. It is designed to replace the old Halogen (35w or 50w) or florescent bulbs, uses considerably less energy than traditional bulbs (between 20% - 85% less) and usually comes with a built in driver.
2.What are the main uses of an LED Down light?
LED downlights are often used in kitchen, living room and bathroom areas and are recessed for a clean, contemporary finish, giving an even light without shadow. Housed directly into the ceiling, most LED downlights are fixed in position however adjustable fittings are available on the market.
3.What are the colour choices available for LED Downlights?
Unlike the traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs, our LED downlights usually come in a choice of three colours; warm white, pure white or cool white. Warm white is often recommended for residential properties as it gives a similar warm glow as the old incandescent bulb whilst cool white is usually the choice in commercial buildings. The colour of the light emitted is a personal preference and some customers favour the daylight effect of the pure white option. In all three cases, the LED gives instant light as soon as it is turned on, without the warming up effect needed for low energy florescent bulbs.
4.Why are you buying an LED Downlight?
Before you buy an LED bulb, consider what purpose you are buying it for. The questions to ask yourself are: What kind of light do I prefer? How wide do I want the beam? What shape or size cut out do I need? Frosted or clear glass? How long do I want it to last? If it is replacing a halogen bulb what wattage do I want and do I need a dimmable option?
