 2. Brief introduction of the material: ASTM A182 F51/Duplex 2205/UNS S31803/W.Nr.1.4462

 

 A. A182 F51 Duplex Overview:

 

A182 F51 is a nitrogen enhanced duplex stainless steel that was developed to combat common corrosion problems encountered with the 300 series stainless steels. The structure of A182 F51 duplex stainless steel consists of austenite pools surrounded by a continuous ferrite phase. In the annealed condition, A182 F51 contains approximately 40-50% ferrite. Often referred to as the work horse grade, A182 F51 is the most widely used grade in the duplex family of stainless steels. A182 F51 is Low Temp Carbon Steel.. As for forgings, need heat treatment, normalizing or normalized and tempered. The steel specimens shall be melt processed using open-hearth, basic oxygen, electric furnace or vacuum-induction melting. A sufficient discard shall be made to secure freedom from injurious piping and undue segregation. The materials shall be forged and shall undergo heat treatment such as normalizing, tempering, quenching and precipitation heat treatment.
