1.What is SMC?
SMC is the abbreviation of Sheet Molding Compound . SMC is a intermediate material in mould by half dry method manufacturing glass fiber reinforced thermosetting products, which is premixed into a paste with unsaturated polyester resin, low shrinkage/low profile additives, initiator, inner release agent, mineral filler,. etc,and then add the thickening agent, coloring agent to mix evenly, have the short cut fiber glass in full dipping and thickening process, and finally form the "Sandwich" structure.
2.How is the SMC processed?
SMC moulding forming is a process that put a certain amount of mold compound into the metal matched-die, under the effect of certain temperature and pressure, the moulding compound will be heated to plasticize in the mould and flow to be filled with the mould cavity ,and then curing to the products. Typical products have the cable bearers, electrical housings, building templates, air-condition shells, car body components, switch boxes, sanitary fittings.,etc.
