Product Description
KE10 self amalgamating tape for high voltage cables
Self amalgamating tape is a non-tacky EPR rubber tape which when stretched and wrapped around cables, electrical joints, hoses and pipes combines or unites itself into a strong, seamless, rubbery, waterproof, and electrically insulating layer.
The self amalgamating tape is supplied in rolls with an interleaving layer, to prevent the tape from amalgamating before use.While not adhesive as such, its self-amalgamating property makes it function as like adhesive tape when wrapped over itself.
Two main types:
- EPR (Ethylene Propylene) rubber based self amalgamating tapes also have excellent amalgamation properties but with better levels of temperature performance and electrical properties are more often the first choice for higher voltage cable applications.
- PIB (Polyisobutylene) rubber based self amalgamating tapes have excellent amalgamation properties. However, generally these products are used more for general purpose or low voltage applications as the service temperature and electrical properties are generally lower than than EPR rubber based tapes.
