Sources of copper
In the worldwide, the average content of copper is 3μg/L in freshwater and 0.25μg/L in sea water. The major pollution sources of copper are waste water discharged from electroplating, smelting, hardware, petrochemical, chemical and other industry sectors.
Significance of copper test
Copper is an essential element of human body. But the self-purification capacity of water is inhibited significantly when the copper content is more than 0.01mg/L. Copper is toxic to aquatic organisms. It is generally believed that the copper content of water exceeding 0.01mg/L is unsafe for fish. The copper toxicity to aquatic organisms is related to its forms in the water. For example, the toxicity of the free copper ions is much higher than that of the complex state. In irrigation water, the critical hazardous concentration of copper sulfate to rice is 0.6mg/L.
Principle
This method equals to the BCA method (EPA approved method). At a certain pH condition, BCA reacts with the cuprous ions to form a kind of purple complex, the color depth is proportion to the concentration of copper.

Quick and easy
Operating in accordance with the instructions, users can complete the copper test independently without specialized training. 2~3 minutes is enough to complete the analysis of one water sample.
Accurate and reliable
Determination results with this method are in accordance with the results with the standard method. It can be used as an alternative method to the standard method.
The range of the determination: 0.2~5.0mg/L. If the concentration is out of the range, please repeat the operation after appropriate dilution of the water sample.The kit can be used for 25 times. It is small in size, light of weight and easy to carry.
Application areas
This product can be used in analysis of copper in drinking water, surface water, groundwater, fishery water, wastewater and etc..
Operation
1. Fill the round sample cell with 15ml of sample.
2. Add a pack of reagent and shake to dissolve.
3.Place it for 2 minutes.
4.Observe the color visually. Put the colorimetric tube to the blank of the standard card, then lift the tube up to 1cm, observe the color in the tube from top to bottom, find out the same level in the standard card. The concentration (mg/L) of the level which has the same color as the sample shows the concentration of copper of the sample.
Note: 1.The Al3+,Fe3+,Ag+, CN- ion and so on in the tested solution will influent the determination result.
2. The pH Value of sample solution should be 4-7.
