1. Introduction

Oxidation reduction is a process by which a molecule or ion loses or gains electrons. This occurs most readily in water treatment and in pool and spa maintenance where an oxidizer, such as chlorine, is added to the water to destroy contaminants. The higher the ORP value, the greater the sanitizing power of your water.

ORP-986 is ideal for swimming pools and spas and can provide a valuable indication of water quality. This tester utilizes a platinum electrode and renewable cloth junction, that can be pulled out when clogging occurs, reactivating the reference and restoring the electrode.

The ORP-986 meter is supplied with screw driver, 4 lithium batteries inside, operation manual (in English), protective box.

OPERATION

1. Remove the protective cap. Do not be afraid white crystals appear around the cap. This is normal with ORP electrodes and they dissolve when rinsed with water.

2. Turn the tester ON by pressing the 'ON/OFF ' button.

3. Immerse into solution up to the max immersion level.

4. Stir gently and wait until the display stabilizes.

5. After use, Turn the tester off by pressing the ON/OFF button, use the water clean the electrode and replace the protective cap.

Do not use distilled or deionized water for storage purposes.

Large fluctuations in readings could be due to non-calibration, dry electrode or rundown Batteries.

Attention : during 2-3 weeks, put electrodes in 3mol/L KCL solution for 12 hours, to make sure the reading within accuracy.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT When the battery symbol appears on the screen, this indicates a low battery and only 1 hour of continuous use remain. though the unit may continue to work, the accuracy of the unit will be affected. 1, Open the battery compartment lid.

2, Remove old batteries and replace with fresh one noting polarity as show in battery compartment.

ELECTRODE REPLACEMENT

1.Remove the protective cap.

2.Unscrew the plastic ring on the top of the electrode .

3.Pull out the electrode and replace it with a new one. make sure the gaskets are in place before screwing back the ring
