Wood moulding mainly problem:
why wood moulding easy crooking?
The wood timber need kiln dry, kiln drying need note: 1. timber must be stacked up evenly with spacers, spacers must be the same size. 2. There must be spacers at 3" towards ends of each piece of timber. 3. leave min space between each cart of timber to let air circulate evenly 4. Chinese fir timber must be sit in Kiln for 7-8 days, and Radiata Pine timber must be sit in kiln for 10 days, at 100% humidity, average 80 centigrade degrees. 5. MC of kiln dried timber for F/J is from 8-11%. 6. MC of each pc shall vary in 3%. 7. Never below 6% or above 14% .7. Probes must be put at 6 corners in kiln. 8. there 4-5 spots shall be measured for each sample piece.9.check the MC and fill in the form ( samples need to be picked from each corner of kiln) .10. inside stress test, pick up few samples, sawing some fingers on each sample like 1.5" long, and air samples for 1-2 days, if fingers moved, means the inside stress is not properly eliminated. need adjust the drying procedure.
After kiln drying the wood timber need acclimatize, acclimztizing timber need note: 1. KD timber must be put at a chamber with good air-flowing and roofing. 2. Chinese fir acclimatization duration is 7-10 days, Radiata pine acclimatization duration is 10-15 days. 3. can't expose the KD timber to rain, snow etc. 4. can't spray water or other liquid on KD lumber.
when we make the product if the board width above 90mm, we would better E/G the board.
if we do the wood moulding as above, the products would not crook.
Why wood moulding peeling?
in order to cover some knots and defects of China fir, and also for having a better smoother finishing, we do two coat of thin gessoing, but we need note: 1. when mixing gesso and gesso glue, can't add water or other kind of glue, therefore the viscosity and waterproofing will be lowered. 2. Gesso and glue must evenly mixed with good flowing. 3. film thickness of gesso coat is less than 15um. 4. mesh of gesso is from 400-600, lower than 400 mesh will have rough finishing. 5. the temperature of dryer for drying gesso coat is at 50-70 celcius, each piece must stay at least 15 minutes in the dryer tunnel.6. after drying in dryer, product shall sit for 24 hours for next step's processing. 7. exterior product need use F series gesso glue.
after sanding we do the second gessoing, the coat is less than 15um too. and need sit for 24 hours for nex step's processing.
