How it works

Several irregular blocks are arranged regularly between outer ring and inner ring. When the inner ring is rotating in the 

working direction, the irregular blocks contact with the outer ring and inner ring gently. 

When the inner ring is rotating on the contrary to the working direction, irregular blocks will be deflect driven 

by spring force and wedge outer ring and inner ring closer together to afford backstop torque.

Torque Arm Stirrup Design

 

Stirrup is used to locate torque arm. It must have enough resistance to shear strength (pressure). 

When user selected arm length is different, the withstood Toque Arm Reaction Force also changes.

 

The pin hole on the stirrup must be long and be installed at the same direction of torque arm, to

 relieve backstop outer race from undue parallel forces.

When backstopping, the pin on the stirrup has no force effected. Its function at this time is to prevent reverse rotation 

at normal runtime.
