Barbed wire, commonly known as iron thistle, barbed wire or barbed wire, is a type of isolation and protective material made by automatic mechanical equipment that wraps barbed wire or blades around the main wire and twists them together. As a long-standing security product, barbed wire is widely used in various fields such as agriculture, transportation, military, and civil construction due to its low cost, easy installation, and efficient deterrent power. With the advancement of materials science and manufacturing technology, modern barbed wire has evolved from traditional galvanized iron wire to include various high-performance forms such as stainless steel, PVC coating, and blade type.
According to manufacturing processes, materials, and appearance, barbed ropes are mainly divided into two categories: traditional twisted barbed ropes and new blade barbed ropes.
1. Traditional twisted rope
This is the most basic form of barbed wire, which is formed by winding the barbed wire around the main thread using a barbed wire machine.
Classified by twisting process:
Single stock twisting: simple structure and low cost.
Double strand twisting: Two or more iron wires are first twisted into a double strand main rope, and then the barbed wire is wrapped around it for higher tensile strength.
Positive and negative twisting: The barbed wire is twisted in the opposite direction from the main thread, resulting in a tighter structure, less likely to loosen, and better stability than unidirectional twisting.
Material composition: The core wire is usually made of low-carbon steel wire (such as Q195, Q235) or high carbon steel wire, and the wire piercing part can use alloy wire of the same material or higher hardness.
2. Razor Barbed Wire
Blade rope is an upgraded product of traditional rope, originating in the mid-20th century, with stronger anti climbing and deterrent capabilities.
Structural composition: It is composed of sharp and pointed galvanized steel plates or stainless steel sheets stamped into blade like shapes, wrapped around high tension steel wire cores, and assembled together.
Common forms:
Spiral type (snake belly type): unfolded in an accordion shape, with a large protective area, commonly used at the top of walls.
Linear type: welded into a diamond or square grid, smooth and beautiful.
Flat panel: Flatten and lay a single ring gill net.
Model specifications: mainly divided into BTO series (such as BTO-10, BTO-22, BTO-30, etc.) and CBT series (such as CBT-60, CBT-65). Among them, BTO-22 is a commonly used model in China.
