Alloy Steel Pipe Product Specification
1. Product Overview
Alloy steel pipes are seamless pipes manufactured by hot rolling, cold rolling or hot extrusion. They take high-quality carbon steel as the base material and are added with alloy elements such as Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni) and Vanadium (V) (total alloy content generally over 5%). Featuring high strength, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, they are essential piping products for high-pressure, high-temperature and corrosive working conditions.
2. Main Materials & Chemical Composition
2.1 Common Steel Grades (Domestic & American Standards)
15CrMo / 15CrMoG: Chromium-molybdenum steel, applicable under working temperature up to 550℃. Widely used for boiler steam pipes and petroleum cracking pipes.
12Cr1MoV / 12Cr1MoVG: Chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel, suitable for ultra-high pressure service below 580℃ with excellent long-term strength.
Cr5Mo (P5): Chromium-molybdenum steel with outstanding sulfur corrosion resistance, applied for high-temperature oil and gas transmission pipelines.
P91 / T91 (10Cr9Mo1VNb): High chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel, designed for supercritical boiler pipes working at 650℃ level.
42CrMo: High-strength quenched and tempered steel, used for heavy-load transmission shafts and hydraulic pipes in machinery industry.

4. Specification Parameters
4.1 Dimension Range
Outer Diameter: 10mm – 630mm (custom large diameter available)
Wall Thickness: 2mm – 100mm (heavy-wall pipe: wall thickness ≥ 6mm)
Length: Standard fixed length 6m – 12m, customized length is acceptable
4.2 Typical Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength: 450 – 1000MPa (30% - 50% higher than ordinary carbon steel)
Yield Strength: ≥ 245MPa
Hardness: HB 150 – 280 (quenched and tempered as required)
5. Production Process
Smelting: Steelmaking via electric furnace or converter, followed by refining to remove impurities and precisely control alloy composition.
Pipe Billet Preparation: Continuous casting round billets, inspected by flaw detection to eliminate cracks and inclusions.
Forming
Hot Rolling: Heated to 1000–1200℃, processed through piercing, pipe rolling and sizing. Ideal for large-diameter and heavy-wall pipes.
Cold Rolling / Cold Drawing: Using hot-rolled pipes as raw materials for cold working. Featured with high dimensional accuracy and smooth surface, suitable for small-diameter and thin-wall pipes.
Heat Treatment: Normalizing, annealing or quenching & tempering to relieve internal stress and optimize mechanical properties (12Cr1MoV requires high-temperature tempering).
Finishing: Straightening, cropping, non-destructive testing (UT/MT/PT) and hydrostatic test to ensure zero defects.
6. Key Characteristics
High Temperature Resistance: Stable long-term service at 500–650℃ with excellent anti-creep performance, fit for boilers and superheaters.
Corrosion Resistance: Dense chromium oxide film provides good resistance against acid, alkali, salt spray and sulfide corrosion.
High Strength: Resist deformation and burst under high pressure, applicable for high-pressure vessels and oil & gas transmission.
Low-temperature Toughness: Alloy elements of Nickel and Vanadium improve low-temperature impact resistance, suitable for working conditions down to -40℃.

8. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: Both ends sealed with plastic caps, bundled with steel strips or woven bags, with anti-rust and moisture-proof treatment.
Delivery Condition: Hot rolled (R), Cold rolled (L), Normalized (N), Quenched & Tempered (T), available as per customer requirements.
Quality Documents: Material certificate, mechanical property report, flaw detection report and chemical composition analysis report are provided together with goods.
