1. Product Introduction

CE-RED certification based on EU Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU is compulsory market access certification for base station RF amplifiers exported to European Union countries. Base station amplifier belongs to professional telecom RF transmission equipment, widely used in 4G/5G macro base stations, micro base stations, signal repeater systems and outdoor communication engineering projects sold via cross-border e-commerce and bulk engineering procurement from China to EU. The full certification covers three core compliance items: LVD low-voltage electrical safety per EN 62368-1, EMC electromagnetic compatibility per EN 55032/EN 55035, and RED radio frequency performance following relevant ETSI RF standards for signal amplification, output power, spurious emission, out-of-band interference and spectrum parameter control.

Without valid CE-RED certification documents, base station amplifiers will be detained by EU customs, rejected for clearance, removed from Amazon EU, eBay and industrial procurement platforms, and banned from local engineering installation. Step 2. Technical Files & Sample SubmissionChinese manufacturers submit mass-production finished amplifier samples plus full technical documents: circuit schematic, PCB drawing, BOM list, critical component CDF list, antenna matching parameter, nameplate draft and English operation manual.

Step 3. Full Lab CE-RED TestingComplete safety test (withstand voltage, insulation resistance, temperature rise protection), EMC conducted & radiated emission test and RED dedicated RF test including output power accuracy, gain flatness, spurious radiation, adjacent channel leakage ratio and harmonic interference indexes. Supply targeted component replacement or circuit optimization plan for non-compliant samples.

Step 4. Test Data Audit & TCF File CompilationDouble-check all lab test data internally, organize complete EU standard technical construction file covering test records, component certificates and product structure info to meet EU market surveillance requirements.

3. Testing & Certification Cycle

4. Sample Requirements

Sample Quantity

2–3 sets of finished mass-production base station amplifiers; for high-power outdoor rack-mounted amplifier, prepare 2 finished units and matching standard power adapter for full-range testing.

Sample Status

Brand new bulk-production goods with unchanged hardware configuration. Internal RF circuit, power supply scheme, component specification and firmware version must keep fully consistent with export bulk goods; arbitrary disassembly, component swapping or parameter modification is forbidden.

Required Supporting Documents

Product specification sheet, RF gain & power parameter datasheet, key semiconductor module certification, exterior multi-angle photos and formal English user manual.

5. Important Testing & Compliance Notes

Strict RED spectrum control: Base station amplifier belongs to high-power RF equipment, out-of-band stray emission over limit directly leads to RED test failure and cannot enter EU market.
No random reuse of module certificates: Even internal RF core module has standalone RED certification, finished amplifier still needs full machine RED testing due to changed peripheral matching circuit and output power design.
Production consistency management: Any upgrade of power amplifier chip, peripheral matching circuit, firmware parameter or casing heat dissipation structure requires retesting and new CE filing, original CE documents become invalid.
Separate safety & RF management: LVD/EMC and RED are three independent mandatory test items, single-item report cannot pass EU customs clearance and e-commerce platform compliance review.
CE marking regulation: Qualified amplifier body or outer carton must print standard CE mark with specified size, unregulated marking will cause customs seizure.
Exclusive model binding rule: CE-RED certification only binds to confirmed model, rated power and frequency version; not available for derivative upgraded amplifier products.
Long-term document storage: Chinese suppliers shall reserve full test reports, TCF files and DoC permanently to cope with EU official market supervision inspection and buyer audit.
