Silica sol precision casting (silica sol investment casting) is a high-precision casting method that uses silica sol as the binder to prepare ceramic molds. It achieves near-net-shape forming through the lost-wax process and is suitable for complex, thin-walled, and high-precision castings such as stainless steel / alloy steel / high-temperature alloys. It often eliminates machining or only requires minimal finishing.

 

Advantages: High precision, smooth surface, friendly to complex/thin-walled parts, wide material compatibility, near-net-shape forming reduces costs.

Limitations: Long drying cycle for shell molds, higher cost than silica gel investment molds; Economic and stability decrease for large and extremely thick-walled parts; High requirements for environmental temperature and humidity and process consistency.

Suitable scenarios: Complex cavities, thin-walled parts, high precision, small/large batch production, stainless steel/high-temperature alloys; such as pumps, valves, impellers, turbine blades, medical device accessories.

Not suitable: Ultra-large parts, extremely thick-walled parts, low-cost large batch parts; Can be replaced by sand molds/pressure casting/3D printed sand molds.

Cost reduction paths: Standardized wax molds and group trees, optimizing layers and drying processes, improving qualification rate, reducing the cost of mother molds and tooling through batch production.
