1. High refractoriness: The refractoriness of high-alumina bricks is higher than that of clay bricks and semi-silica bricks, reaching 1750~1790℃.

2. Load softening temperature: Due to the high Al2O3 content and low impurity content in high-alumina products, less fusible vitreous bodies are formed. So the load softening temperature is higher than that of clay bricks. However, since the mullite crystals do not form a network structure, the load softening temperature is still lower than that of silica bricks.

3. Slag resistance: High-alumina bricks contain more Al2O3 and are close to neutral refractory materials, which can resist the erosion of both acidic and alkaline slags. Due to the presence of SiO2, their ability to resist alkaline slags is slightly weaker than that to resist acidic slags.


They are mainly used for lining blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, electric furnace roofs, blast furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, and rotary kilns. In addition, high-alumina bricks are also widely used as regenerative checker bricks in open-hearth furnaces, stoppers and nozzle bricks for pouring systems, etc.
