I. Overview


METSO IOP351 is an intelligent hybrid signal input/output module that integrates analog and digital processing functions. It can accurately receive analog signals from sensors (such as continuously changing physical quantities like temperature and pressure) and digital signals from equipment (such as discrete quantities like switch states). After internal processing, it converts the signals into a format recognizable by the control system and transmits them. At the same time, it can also receive instructions from the control system to drive actuators. It plays a key role in signal acquisition and control execution in industrial production, providing strong support for the stable operation of industrial automation systems.

II. Technical Parameters


Power Supply Specifications: It adopts 24V DC power supply, which is widely used in industrial environments and compatible with most industrial power supply systems to ensure stable power supply for the module. Its maximum power consumption is only 12W, which meets the high-performance operation of the module while effectively reducing energy consumption, conforming to the industrial development trend of energy conservation and environmental protection.


Input Channels: It includes 12 analog input channels and 16 digital input channels. The analog input supports 4-20mA current signals and 0-10V voltage signals, with a resolution of up to 16 bits, which can accurately capture subtle changes in signals, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for measurement accuracy. The digital input supports both dry contact and wet contact types, with a response time of less than 1ms, which can quickly identify changes in the switch state of equipment.

Output Channels: It is equipped with 8 analog output channels and 12 digital output channels. The analog output supports 4-20mA current signals and 0-10V voltage signals, with an output accuracy of ±0.1%, which can accurately control the action of actuators. The digital output is a relay output with a contact capacity of 250V AC/30V DC, which can directly drive small motors, solenoid valves and other equipment.


Communication Interfaces: It has 1 Ethernet interface (10/100Mbps adaptive) and 2 RS-485 interfaces, supporting mainstream industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP and Modbus RTU. It can seamlessly connect with control systems such as PLC and DCS to achieve efficient data transmission and sharing.
Environmental Adaptability: The operating temperature range is -30℃ to 70℃, enabling stable operation in cold outdoor environments and high-temperature industrial workshops. The relative humidity is 5%-95% (non-condensing), with good moisture resistance. The anti-vibration capability is 10-2000Hz, with an acceleration of 5g, which can withstand mechanical vibrations in industrial production and ensure the reliable operation of the module.

Hybrid Signal Processing: It has both analog and digital input/output functions, capable of processing multiple signal types in industrial production simultaneously, without the need for additional modules. For example, in an automated production line, it can simultaneously collect analog parameters such as temperature and pressure, and digital signals such as equipment operating status, and output corresponding analog control signals and digital switch commands according to control requirements.


High Precision and High Stability: The high precision of analog input and output ensures the accuracy of signal measurement and control, reducing production quality problems caused by signal errors. The fast response and stable performance of digital input and output ensure the timely capture of equipment state changes and reliable action of actuators. The module uses industrial-grade components and advanced circuit design, with strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability, and can still work stably in complex industrial electromagnetic environments.


Flexible Configuration and Expansion: It supports flexible setting of parameters of input and output channels through dedicated configuration software, such as signal type, range, alarm threshold, etc., which can be personalized according to different application scenarios. IV. Application Scenarios


Food Processing Industry: In food production lines, IOP351 can collect analog signals such as temperature and pressure of sterilizers, and digital signals such as the operating status of conveyors and the switch status of valves. After analysis by the control system, it outputs analog signals to control the opening of steam valves to adjust temperature and pressure, and outputs digital signals to control the start-stop of conveyors and the switch of valves, ensuring that the food processing process meets the process requirements and guaranteeing food quality and safety.


Building Materials Industry: In the cement production process, the module can collect analog parameters such as the feed amount and temperature of raw material mills, and digital signals such as equipment operating status, and transmit the data to the control system. According to the preset process parameters, the control system outputs corresponding analog signals through the module to control the speed of the feeder, adjust the feed amount, and outputs digital signals to control the start-stop of equipment, realizing automatic control of cement production, improving production efficiency and product quality.


Municipal Engineering: In urban sewage treatment plants, IOP351 can collect analog indicators such as pH value and dissolved oxygen of sewage, and digital signals such as the operating status of water pumps and valves. According to these signals, the control system outputs analog signals through the module to control the dosage of dosing pumps, and outputs digital signals to control the start-stop of water pumps and the switch of valves, realizing the automatic operation of the sewage treatment process and ensuring that the effluent quality meets the standards.
