NorthStar High Voltage Probe VD100

North Star develops and manufactures high-voltage probes to define newer technologies in high-voltage measurement. The company also develops and manufactures support circuits for shutdown tubes, including Thyratrons and Ignitrons drivers. North Star has developed two main types of high-voltage probes - the PVM series designed for portability and wide bandwidth, and the independent VD series designed for long lifespan and high precision. Two types of probes can be used with a 1 megaohm input oscilloscope (standard) or various input impedance instruments (* * instrument type at the time of ordering). The probe can also be used in the "bare" version for OEM applications.

North Star high-voltage measurement has various requirements, and our PVM and VD series probes are designed to meet most of these requirements. The PVM probe is designed for wide bandwidth and portability, suitable for situations where various measurements must be performed. The VD series probes are designed for higher voltage ranges and places that require physical stability.

The design of the probe is correct. The probe has been fully adjusted and there is no need to further adjust the probe on site. The stray capacitance inside the probe has been calibrated by the factory. The stray capacitance caused by proximity effect is minimized through unique conductor placement.

The entire probe uses low-temperature and voltage coefficient resistors and capacitors to provide measurement accuracy. The probe has a sturdy nylon shell and is filled with dielectric oil to achieve high pressure stability.

Our PVM series probes can be ordered with a calibration factor of 1000:1 or 2000:1.

The PVM series high-voltage probe is designed for general use and has * * high-frequency response. The application range of these probes ranges from car ignition to excimer laser system measurement to EMI measurement. They are factory calibrated and do not require adjustment. Usually, the probe can be used with a 1 megohm oscilloscope, but we also offer optional switches to compensate for various measuring instruments, such as a 10 megohmmeter. These devices are suitable for a wide range of applications where portability and ease of use are crucial.
