SVHC Candidate List updated to 247 items

On January 21, 2025, the Candidate List of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) in the REACH Regulation of the European Union was updated again, with the addition of five new controlled substances and, at the same time, the information of one substance was updated.

The information of these six updated substances is as follows:

I. 6-[(C10-C13)-alkyl-(branched,unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl]hexanoic acid

Chinese name: 6-[(C10-C13)-alkyl-(branched,unsaturated)-2,5- dioxopyridin-1-yl]hexanoic acid, which is toxic to reproduction, is used in lubricants, greases and metalworking fluids.

O,O,O-triphenyl phosphorothioate

Chinese name: O,O,O-triphenyl phosphorothioate, mainly used in hydraulic oils, lubricants, greases, and metalworking fluids and other products.

Three, Octamethyltrisiloxane

Chinese name: octamethyltrisiloxane, commonly used in washing and cleaning products, polishing and waxing, cosmetics and personal care products and other such products.

Perfluamine

Chinese name: perfluorodipropylamine, commonly used in corrosion-resistant transmission fluids, dielectric insulating fluids, electronic components, device leakage detection fluids and other products. octamethyltrisiloxane (octamethyltrisiloxane) and Perfluamine (Perfluorodipropylamine) is considered to have a strong persistence and bioaccumulation by the EU ECHA, the two types used in the manufacture of detergents and cleaning products, polishing wax, cosmetics and personal care products and so on. Both are used in the manufacture of laundry and cleaning products, as well as in the manufacture of electrical, electronic and optical equipment.

As of now, the list of SVHC candidate substances contains 247 items, one pending substance (resorcinol), and five SVHC intention list substances.

What should companies do?

1. If an “article” contains SVHC at a concentration of 0.1% or more and receives an inquiry from a consumer, the company shall notify the consumer of the relevant information within 45 days.

3、“Substances or mixtures” products (such as paints, inks, etc.) containing SVHC candidate substances, should be provided to the downstream users of the Safety Technical Data Sheet (SDS / MSDS), of which mixtures are also required to fill out the SDS / MSDS in the UFI (in line with the CLP regulatory requirements of the identifier)

2, you can contact the testing organization

3, sign the offer contract;

4, mail the sample to the testing organization;

5, the product for REACH testing;

6, the test is completed, after the audit of the testing organization to issue a REACH report.

The processing cycle takes about 5-7 working days.
