UNITROL 1020 is a voltage regulator intended for small and medium synchronous generators and industrial machines. It combines performance control and power circuits with a simple mechanical design and provides high performance in a wide range of temperature and vibration conditions. With built-in dual channel support, advanced load sharing between machines operating in parallel, rotating diode monitoring, automatic synchronizing, and several integrated communication options, this automatic voltage regulator (AVR) is manufactured using the most advanced microprocessor technology and IGBT semiconductors, allowing current output up to 20 ADC for continuous operation. It is widely applicable to industrial automation production lines, process control, power systems, mechanical engineering and other fields, supporting functions such as logic control, status monitoring, and equipment start-stop control.
Core Features
Dual-Channel Redundancy Design
Built-in dual-channel hot backup function automatically switches to the standby channel in case of main channel failure, ensuring continuous operation and enhancing system reliability.
Supports online channel testing to verify the effectiveness of the redundancy function without shutdown.
Advanced Parallel Operation Load Sharing
Equipped with an automatic reactive power load sharing algorithm to accurately distribute reactive loads among multiple parallel generators, avoiding circulating current issues and maintaining grid stability.
Supports Droop Control to adapt to power distribution requirements under grid frequency fluctuations.
Rotating Diode Monitoring and Protection
Real-time monitoring of the rotating diodes in the generator rotor circuit provides early warning of diode faults (such as open circuits or short circuits), preventing downtime risks caused by excitation system anomalies.
Integrates overvoltage/undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, overheat protection, and other functions to ensure the safe operation of the generator.
Automatic Synchronization and Communication Capability
Automatic Synchronization Function: Supports synchronization and grid connection with the power grid or other generators. Built-in phase, frequency, and voltage detection algorithms shorten the grid connection time and reduce inrush current.
Communication Interfaces: Standard with MODBUS RTU or RS-485, and optional industrial Ethernet protocols such as PROFINET and Ethernet/IP. Supports remote monitoring and parameter configuration (e.g., via the ABB Ability™ platform).
High-Performance Power Output
Utilizes IGBT semiconductor technology to provide continuous 20 ADC excitation current output with fast response (voltage regulation time <0.5 seconds), suitable for scenarios with rapid load changes (such as motor starting and sudden load application).
Output voltage adjustment range: 80% to 110% of the rated voltage (flexibly configurable via software).
Wide Environmental Adaptability
Operating temperature: -25°C to +70°C (no derating required), adapting to extreme environments such as outdoors and high-temperature workshops.
Vibration/shock resistance: Complies with IEC 60068-2 standards (vibration: 10-500Hz, 2g; shock: 15g, 11ms), suitable for vibrating scenarios such as marine and construction machinery.
