Principle of DC Cable Technology for Fast Charging of Electric Vehicles
The power battery system is generally composed of battery cells, BMS (power management system) and structural parts (box, connectors, connectors, etc.).
The actual fast charging power of the battery pack is determined by the BMS based on the state of the battery cell (temperature, state of charge). Generally, when designing a battery system, a detailed fast charging power table will be formulated. The BMS selects the appropriate charging current based on the monitored battery pack temperature, state of charge and other information, and interacts with the charging pile to control its current output.
Among them, because the battery cell has a characteristic, its life is different when charged at different rates;
The "charging rate that the battery cell can withstand" here means that even if this rate is used for fast charging throughout the life cycle, the life of the battery cell can be within a reasonable range;
The maximum fast charging rate of the battery pack generally set will be lower than the charging rate that the battery cell can withstand, mainly considering the consistency of the battery cell. Due to the influence of the processing process, the capabilities of different battery cells are different, and the battery cell with the worst performance needs to be taken care of;
In fact, the power meter set is generally step charging or multi-stage charging, that is, the current is the largest when the battery cell is in the most suitable state, and the current will decrease in other states. This is why our fast charging is generally terminated at 80%.
