Calcium Silicon

Calcium silicon or calcium silicon alloy is obtained from silica, lime and coke in a strong reducing atmosphere at 1500-1800 degrees. As a ferroalloy, it also contains different impurities such as iron, aluminum, carbon, sulfur, and phosphorus. It has the form of a lump or powder.

Calcium silicon or ferro silicon calcium is a composite alloy composed of elements silicon, calcium and iron. It is an ideal composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer. It is widely used in the production of steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel and other steel types and special alloys such as nickel-based alloys and titanium-based alloys; it is also suitable as a temperature increasing agent for converter steelmaking workshops; it can also be used as an inoculant for cast iron and additives in the production of ductile iron.

Calcium silicon not only has strong deoxidation ability, and the deoxidation products are easy to float and be discharged, but it can also improve the properties of steel and improve its plasticity, impact toughness and fluidity. The alloy is classified based on calcium content, such as SiCa30-Ca1 (30% Ca, 90% Ca+Si) and SiCa28–Ca2(28% Ca, 80% Ca+Si). Additionally, multi-element alloys like Si-Ca-Al, Si-Ca-Mn, and Si-Ca-Fe can be created by adding other elements to the silicon-calcium alloy.
